Encanto: Custom Illustrations
I have deep roots in Puerto Rico— I was born there! My grandparents had a home in Ponce and a coffee farm (finca) in the lush mountains of Adjuntas. At their finca, they grew and sold Puerto Rican coffee, along with oranges and a bounty of tropical fruits. It was a place full of natural beauty, family history, and Caribbean magic.
In Ponce, my grandmother’s house welcomed you with color and life. A blooming golden trumpet tree 🌼 framed the front gate, and as you walked up to the porch, you passed a vibrant red starcluster 🌷 and a bold Flor de Maga 🌺—Puerto Rico’s beloved national flower. Her yard was alive with chickens and even a spirited Puerto Rican parrot named Cuca 🦜.
Over in Adjuntas, the coffee farm felt like a dream. We’d play in the mountain creeks, surrounded by fruit trees and thick greenery, until the sun disappeared behind the hills. At night, the air filled with the sound of the coquí frogs 🐸—a sound so distinctly Puerto Rican, it’s impossible to forget (seriously, if you haven’t heard a coquí, Google it!).
Even though it’s been a long time since I’ve been there, that land, those memories—they stay with me. This collection is inspired by Puerto Rico’s natural beauty, rich culture, and personal memories. I hope a little of that encanto shines through in every piece. ✨
