Intro

When The Float Spa Raleigh came to me, they had an idea for a logo and a dream to open Raleigh's first dedicated float therapy spa. What they didn't have yet was a brand, the visual language, the positioning, the website, or any of the infrastructure a new business needs to open its doors with confidence.

The problem

Starting a wellness business from scratch is one thing. Starting one in a market where most people have never heard of float therapy is another. The brand couldn't just look good, it had to do real educational work, build immediate trust with a skeptical audience, and position the spa as a premium wellness destination before a single customer had walked through the door. They came with the bones of a logo idea but nothing beyond that. No color system, no typography, no website, no way to take bookings, no coherent brand story. Everything needed to be built from zero, and built to last.

The approach

I started with strategy before touching anything visual. Who was the Float Spa's customer? What were they coming in anxious about, and what did they need to feel by the time they booked? Float therapy sits at the intersection of wellness, mindfulness, and medical recovery, the brand needed to feel calm and credible, not trendy or clinical.

The Logo

The logo system I developed gave them flexibility across every context, a primary lockup, a horizontal version, and a standalone mark that works at small sizes and on dark backgrounds.

The Color Palette

The color palette was built around the feeling of stillness: deep greens, warm neutrals, and soft tones that signal both nature and professionalism.

The Website

I designed and built a full Squarespace site with integrated booking through Mangomint, their scheduling platform. Every page was designed to move a first-time visitor from curious to confident to booked, with clear service descriptions, benefit-driven copy structure, and a frictionless booking flow.

The Outcome

The Float Spa Raleigh launched with a complete brand and a fully functional website, ready to take bookings from day one. The site handles services, memberships, gift cards, FAQs, a blog, and online booking, all within a cohesive brand experience that feels like it belongs to an established spa, not a new one. From a logo sketch to a live, bookable wellness destination — built in a single engagement

Stats

  • Brand Foundation → Launch

  • Full brand identity and website built for opening day

  • 5 service categories: Float therapy, massage, contrast therapy, skin wellness, memberships

  • Booking-ready: Mangomint integration for online reservations from day one

The brief was simple: make it feel like somewhere people want to go before they even know what floating is. The brand had to earn trust before the first booking was made.
