Offline Issues and Article Insets

Worked closely with the Wall Street Journal experience team to improve their Power Readers’ experiences with UX improvements to their Offline Issues section. This is the section of the app where users can read the latest 7 days issues while offline.

Research

It was such a treat to work alongside the WSJ team! Some of the research done included interviewing “Power Readers” who are people who read the Ipad app daily, creating wireframes and testing those in the groups.

Number of Power Users interviewed: 48

The Interviews

The goal of the interviews was to establish the design aesthetic preferences of these users, some of the generalities were:

  • Age group: 45-55yrs old

  • Sex: 50% w, 50%m

  • Something else we found: they were all some form of frequent traveler, either via air or subway trains, these users spent a great deal of time moving.

Deliverables for the development team included call outs of the different design system elements, all of the states for each element, along with user flows.
